When is a power failure good?

This morning I was trying to use Remote Desktop from home to get some work done on a computer at church. It wasn’t connecting so I knew that there was a problem.  Come to find out we had a power failure during a strong storm last night. Normally this would be bad. However, I was pleased after looking over the event log for our APC Smart UPS that everything functioned properly. We had 22 minutes of runtime on battery power before the shutdown sequence was initiated. Our server turns off happily which makes me very happy!

I was a little bummed though. Our internal network had been functioning uninterrupted for 180 days. Almost made it to half a year. Not too bad in church IT land.
