Back in May of 2011 a group of us started talking about Tough Mudder, an endurance event designed by British Special Forces (so we’re told) with a ton of crazy obstacles.
Tough Mudder is not a race but a challenge. The goals are camaraderie, team work, and pushing yourself past what you thought you could. The 8 of us decided to do it together and began training the first week in July for our October 8th date. Most of our training involved:
- Sprint Intervals (usually walk 1 block, jog 1 block, sprint 2 blocks) 10 times
- Hill runs (2 miles to the hill, .5 miles up, .5 miles down, 2 miles back)
- Pyramid runs (2 blocks, 4 blocks, 6 blocks, 8 blocks, 8, 6, 4, 2) with short walks in between
- Circuit training
-
- Decline Pushups
- Standard Pushups
- Pullups
- Dips
- Y-Press
- Lunges (weighted or not)
- Upright row
- Mountain climbers
- Cross body curls
- Balance pushups
- Bent over row
- Superman
- Scissor Kicks
We traveled to Austin, TX together and simply did our thing. It was a great not only to train with a group of guys but to become physically exhausted with thousands of others. Here are some pics to prove we did it.
